SAR Color Guardsman

The Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) recognizes the dedication of its Color Guardsmen by awarding the Silver Color Guard Medal and the Von Steuben Medal for Sustained Color Guard Service for participation in a single local event held on or near July 4th, Memorial Day, or Veterans Day, as outlined in the Color Guard Handbook. Only one event per occasion counts toward these medals, and multiple events on these days cannot be counted multiple times. Events listed in the first edition of the Handbook (dated 9/24/2000) were approved prior to that date, while events with a specified "Date Added" cannot be counted for medals before the earlier of the date added or the event's occurrence after inclusion.
