SAR Commendation Medal Awarded to Sheriff Prendergast
At the January 2020 meeting of the Withlacoochee Chapter of the SAR, Citrus County Sheriff Mike Prendergast was awarded the Sons of the American Revolution Law Enforcement Commendation Medal. The medal is presented to those who have served with distinction and devotion in the field of law enforcement. The medal was pinned by his wife Naomi Prendergast. The medal is intended to recognize exceptional service or accomplishment in the field of law enforcement. Eligibility is not limited to peace officers but extends to the entire range of persons who make and enforce the law, to include but not limited to peace officers, attorneys, judges, prosecutors and legislators who have performed an exceptional act or service beyond that normally expected. Presentation Of Challenge Coin
Compatriot Jack Townsend was presented the Chapter Challenge Coin at the January 2020 meeting of the Withlacoochee Chapter of the SAR. The coin is presented to all Veterans who are classified as Disabled Veterans by the Veterans Administration. The presentation was made by Compatriot William Teater.

Sugarmill Woods Residents Awarded SAR Flag Certificate
The Withlacoochee Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution recently awarded the SAR Flag Certificate to Jim and Joy Potts of Homosassa. They proudly display the U.S flag to show their loyalty and patriotism. The Withlacoochee Chapter of the SAR awards the SAR Flag Certificate recognition to those who appropriately display the flag of the United States of America. The Flag Certificate is presented to individuals, companies, and government agencies that fly the United States flag for patriotic purposes only. Brooksville Resident Inducted in the Sons of the American Revolution
At the January meeting of The Withlacoochee Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution, Compatriot Thomas Edward Barnette, of Brooksville, was inducted during ceremonies among the attending membership. Compatriot Barnette’s patriot ancestor was Dennis Canfield of Vermont. During the ceremony the SAR rosette was pinned on the left lapel of his blazer. The awards were presented by Chapter Past-President and former Eagle Scout Charles Day, who was assisted by another former Eagle Scout, Judge Richard “Ric” Howard. Those receiving the award were Compatriots Thomas Barnette of Brooksville, and Michael Houle of Lecanto. The Eagle Scout Recognition Pin is available to those SAR members who have been Eagle Scouts.
